What is Singlish?

Singlish (Sinhala + English) is Sinhala written with the English (Latin) alphabet. It's how most Sri Lankans chat on phones and social media: kohomadha, sthuthiyi, mama oyaata aadharei.

A Singlish to Sinhala converter turns that phonetic text into real Sinhala letters. This tool uses the popular phonetic scheme also used by the UCSC real-time converter, so the rules you already know just work.

Sinhala Unicode vs FM Abhaya and legacy fonts

Sinhala Unicode (U+0D80–U+0DFF) is the international standard. It shows correctly on every modern phone, browser and app without installing anything. It's searchable by Google and works with screen readers.

Legacy fonts like FM Abhaya, Isiwara and the FM family put Sinhala shapes onto English character codes. The text only looks right when that exact font is installed. Many print shops, newspapers and Photoshop workflows still use them.
